Josh Hennings
Josh’s father submitted an entry based on a fathers love for his son. The Hennings lost their youngest son, Jacob, last February to a blood disorder while in the Hospital. Josh and Jacob were very close and this devastated Josh.
His strength through the depression impressed his father, but it was obvious that Josh wasn’t himself. Mr. Hennings’ had purchased a 1993 Mustang convertible with front end damage that also needed a new top. His intent was to repair it with Josh before he got his drivers license. Mr. Hennings is a mechanic at a local dealership and thought it would be a great way to keep Josh busy as he grieved for the loss of his younger brother. We stepped in and took it from there. As you can see form the picture, this car was “madeover” in a big way!
After GM Tom Dice completed the repairs and painting of the car, we trucked it over to Joe Davis at Broadway Auto Glass for the new convertible top. Charlie had arranged for us to get the top done for “cost” by Broadway. At the last minute I decided that I wanted to install a nice stereo and speakers for the final touch on the repairs.
Joe Davis called and inquired why we were repairing this car and why there was so much interest in the vehicle from the executive team…he simply wanted to know what we were doing. That’s when the project took on a new dimension. Joe was so touched with the story that he asked for permission to add his touch to the repairs. He asked Memphis stereo for a sound system. Discount Tire donated chrome GT wheels and tires. Catskin interiors donated leather Mustang GT covers for the seats with embroidered Mustang ponies and the names of the two brothers in the headrests.

Broadway handled all the labor for the top and the interior. Not to mention the alarm and remote starter added for icing on the cake. We presented the car to the Hennings on Friday the 21st of December. The local paper, the Hammond Times, came out and covered the event and posted an article on our contest and the business community that participated. You can go to www.thetimesonline.com and read it for yourself. We also had a local cable station come out and interview the family and all of us who took part in the Makeover contest.
